A few things to look for in the Women’s 5.0 Gold Medal Match below:
- The receiver gets to the kitchen line quickly as she returns the ball on every ball, except when she hits a very bad return.
- Players on the serving team work their way to the kitchen line as quickly as possible.
- Players get their paddles back early. Remember: PADDLE-FEET-SWING.
- Notice that the woman in the black shirt on the far side often stops too soon, short of the kitchen line, and when she does, she is always targeted, and misses.
- Players are more successful with their shots when they are in a stable position.
- In the video you can hear players calling “me,” “you.”
The video below demonstrates the proper warmup routine before playing. It’s a great short drill to use to practice multiple types of shots. If you’re not familiar with her, Simone Jardin is considered the greatest woman pickleball player of all time.
